Assistant Pro­fes­sor (Ten­ure Track) of Decis­i­on Sci­en­ces -> The Depart­ment of Manage­ment, Tech­no­lo­gy, and Eco­no­mics (D‑MTEC, ) at ETH Zurich invi­tes appli­ca­ti­ons for the abo­ve-men­tio­ned posi­ti­on. -> Decis­i­on sci­en­ces pro­vi­de insights into decis­i­on-making and deri­ve recom­men­da­ti­ons to gui­de it based on prin­ci­ples from mathe­ma­tics, sta­tis­tics, com­pu­ter sci­ence, and beha­vi­oral sci­en­ces. Ope­ra­ti­ons rese­arch (OR) and/or advan­ced ana­ly­tics appli­ed to empi­ri­cal busi­ness pro­blems are par­ti­cu­lar­ly rele­vant to this posi­ti­on. The­r­e­fo­re, the future pro­fes­sor must be an expert in quan­ti­ta­ti­ve methods. Com­pe­ti­ti­ve can­di­da­tes main­tain an out­stan­ding rese­arch pro­gram in con­tem­po­ra­ry decis­i­on sci­en­ces, with an empha­sis on appli­ed ana­ly­sis of busi­ness pro­blems rele­vant to mana­ge­ri­al prac­ti­ce at the orga­niza­tio­nal level. Col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with indus­try part­ners is expec­ted. -> For this posi­ti­on, D‑MTEC is not loo­king for can­di­da­tes spe­cia­li­zing in trans­por­ta­ti­on sci­ence, eco­sys­tem per­spec­ti­ves such as ener­gy sys­tems, or the role of cogni­ti­on in decis­i­on-making. -> The new pro­fes­sor is expec­ted to be an effec­ti­ve and enthu­si­a­stic tea­cher who will deve­lop and teach cour­ses in are­as such as appli­ed ope­ra­ti­ons rese­arch and busi­ness ana­ly­tics. At the assistant pro­fes­sor level, com­mit­ment to tea­ching and the abili­ty to estab­lish and lead a rese­arch group in decis­i­on sci­en­ces are expec­ted. -> Assistant pro­fes­sor­ships have been estab­lished to pro­mo­te the care­ers of youn­ger sci­en­tists.
